SOLAR POWER-CLEAN WATER AND TECHNOLOGY
Updated: May 27, 2022
InfiniteEARTH and Rimba Raya Conservation would like to secure the long-term health and social well-being benefits of the community in our concession area. We work towards this this by providing access to clean water, clean energy and technology that promotes access to information.
Clean and safe water is essential to healthy living. Clean water is a key contributor to reduced mortality rates, particularly for children, women and the elderly. One might ask why people don’t just boil their water to ensure that it’s safe to drink- we should remember that the fuel required to make fires can be more expensive than most people can afford.
Chronic poverty remains a major concern for many developing countries. Conventional frameworks for understanding development and poverty have focused on money,
commodities and economic growth.
Our approach contributes to community development centered on human well-being. Poor people are not defined solely by their poverty, they have needs and dreams they wish to fulfill and we
make every effort to assist them reach their goals.
1 out of every 5 deaths under the age of 5 worldwide is due to a water-related disease
Increasing access to energy is critical to ensuring socioeconomic development in the world's poorest countries.
An estimated 1.5 billion people in developing countries have no access to electricity.
About 80% of illnesses in developing countries are linked to poor water and sanitation conditions.
Historically, marginal groups in developing countries obtain fuel for fires from the neighboring forests. This by definition leads to deforestation. Additionally, burning conventional fuels such as coal and wood has led to a rapid increase in CO2 emissions.
It's an accepted fact that by limiting the increase of total greenhouse gas (GHG) levels in the atmosphere, we will be helping to reduce the impact of climate change and it is for this
reason, and a need to protect vulnerable forests, that we need to turn to the miracle of solar energy technologies.
At Rimba Raya, several solar panel installations are dotted around the project area. These are used to power road and community centers while other installations power houses in off-grid villages. Additionally each household in the project area has been given individual small solar panels, thus providing light at night when families gather, children do their homework and community members generally go about their lives- these panels contribute to an improved quality of life.
Developing nations and remote communities face unique challenges when it comes to sustainability and growth, even as globalization has led to many advancements
throughout the world.
Technology has played a key role in helping move developing countries toward sustainable
growth, with innovative solutions that promote the welfare of people in those areas.
Whether it’s providing solar energy to power villages, giving access to Wi-Fi, setting camera
traps to collect data on biodiversity in our concession, or expanding education to adults
and children through digital means, technology continues to be a critical resource
